Post Pecha Kucha Night 9 Edmonton Musings

The only way I can start this blog is to say a great big 'thank you' to all the newbie Pecha Kuchaers in attendance at PKN9!
I loved that so many Edmontonians (and of course out of town guests) were willing to brave the cold to experience a unique presentation environment at such an amazing venue, being the Royal Alberta Museum (which was sold out with 400 in attendance by the way...), and learn about what others are up to in the city (besides trying to keep warm!).
What I realized after presenting at PKN9 for the first time, is that I would really love to do it again!  It is the best way to share my thoughts with so many people all at one time... especially because no one could argue or interrupt me while I was speaking haha!
As people were making their way out of the auditorium at the end of the presentations, I was approached by a young fellow. He began to share how much he enjoyed what I had to say, so I asked him what he learned, but he could barely recall the topic! At first, I took that rather personally, but as we chatted, he paused for a moment, looked at me and said what he liked the most was that he felt how much I cared about what I was saying. When giving a presentation to so many people without a chance for in the moment interaction or feedback, it was a rewarding moment to know that at least one person found something meaningful about it.
To all of the other people I didn't get a chance to speak with that night, I can only hope that you experience living in and moving through the city with more awareness, and that you recall an image, quote or fact, and make choices to lessen the impact of Urban Sprawl
